What happened

Armed kidnappers invaded the Yellow House area of Mpape, Abuja on the night of 8 July 2026, shooting two residents and abducting four others. One of the shot victims, identified as Mr. Babangida, later died in hospital; police pursued the gang and rescued the four abductees unharmed after a gun battle around Jikoko Hills in the early hours of 10 July 2026.

How the numbers were verified

Figures come from an FCT Police Command account (CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi) as relayed by the outlet; no independent witness. Injured count of 2 includes the man who later died — avoid double counting (1 dead, 1 still hospitalised with a leg gunshot wound). Abductees were rescued but the abduction itself occurred. LGA assigned as Bwari Area Council based on Mpape/Ushafa location; article does not name the area council.
