Verified conservative figures — "at least" numbers. Where reports claim more, the higher claim is shown but not counted until verified.
163 released or rescued; 13 still held — day 249.
176 women and children reportedly abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists from Woro community in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State, were released/rescued after about six months in captivity, according to a Kwara State Government statement issued on 5 August 2026. The state government confirmed the rescue by security forces but gave no operational details or figures.
176 abducted was first reported from a video obtained by SaharaReporters in February 2026 and is now corroborated independently: Daily Trust reports no fewer than 176 residents abducted, and the Kaiama Development Association's records state that 163 victims returned against 176 abducted, leaving 13 unaccounted for. The Kwara State Government confirmed the rescue of 163 victims on 5 August 2026 (Governor AbdulRazaq's statement, reported by Punch); the released figure of 163 comes from that statement. 13 people remain unaccounted for. The state government's early estimate of 20-30 abducted was superseded by its own confirmation of the rescue scale.
