Five students of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, were abducted by armed men in the Saapade area of Ogun State on the night of 27 April 2026, after their vehicle was found abandoned with bullet impacts and blood stains. Police tactical units rescued the five victims on 28 April 2026 following a gun battle in which the kidnappers fled with suspected gunshot wounds; the victims were taken for medical attention.
Figures come from an Ogun State Police Command statement by PPRO Oluseyi Babaseyi. No deaths reported. The injured figure of 1 is the vehicle's driver, shot in the leg — reported first-hand by the rescued victims (Daily Post); the police statement confirms the victims received medical attention without giving a count. LGA (Remo North) inferred from Saapade/Ipara/Isara locations, not stated in article.
