Seven students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, abducted by gunmen along the polytechnic axis on 29 July 2026, were rescued in a phased joint security operation announced on 6 August 2026; one student had sustained a gunshot injury during the abduction and two suspected kidnappers were arrested.
